Glazunov’s Prelude (from 3 Morceaux, Op.49) is the first piece of the piano suite 3 Morceaux, Op.49, composed in 1894. This compact collection of three short pieces beautifully condenses Glazunov’s rich harmonic language and the elegance of late Romantic Russian music. Though brief in length, the piece is memorable for its warm, singing melody, combining salon-like charm with refined sophistication, making it especially suitable as an encore piece.

For this arrangement by Lento & Vivace, an introduction has been added, along with repeated statements of the first theme and additional counter-melodies accompanying the main melody. The original key of D-flat major has also been transposed to E-flat major to make the piece more comfortable to perform.
