The waltz from the first act of Pyotr Tchaikovsky's ballet "The Sleeping Beauty" (opus 66) has been arranged for piano accompaniment and 12 different instrumental solos.
Based on the folk tale "Sleeping Beauty" by Charles Perrault, it is also called "three great ballets" along with "Swan Lake" and "The Nutcracker" composed by Tchaikovsky.
The director of the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg wrote a letter to Tchaikovsky asking him to compose the ballet.
In 1959, Disney made it into a feature-length animated film, Sleeping Beauty. I use it for the scene where I sing and dance to.
It's a light waltz, so it's a fun piece to play.
