The waltz from the first act of Pyotr Tchaikovsky's ballet "The Sleeping Beauty" (opus 66) has been arranged for piano accompaniment and 12 different instrumental solos.
Based on the folk tale "Sleeping Beauty" by Charles Perrault, it is also called "three great ballets" along with "Swan Lake" and "The Nutcracker" composed by Tchaikovsky. The Mariinsky Theatre Manager of St. Petersburg wrote a letter to Tchaikovsky, and the commission to compose this ballet gave birth to this work and it was premiered at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg in 1890.
In 1959, Disney made a feature-length animated film as "Sleeping Beauty", but among them, the insert song "Once upon a Dream" with this waltz motif I use it for scenes where I meet Prince Philip and sing and dance.
It's a light waltz, so it's a fun piece to play.
