Piano piece composed by French composer Maurice Ravel in 1899. (Later arranged into an orchestral piece by Ravel himself in 1910). Pavane refers to Butoh, which was popular in the courts of Europe from the 16th to the 17th centuries. According to Ravel, the title is not "a lament of the funeral of a deceased princess", but rather "a representation of Pavane danced by a little princess in the Spanish court a long time ago." Therefore, even in Japanese notation, the word "dead princess" becomes stronger when it is expressed as "dead princess", so sometimes it is written as "nakinprincess" without using any kanji. There is a theory, but it is also said that Ravel composed it with inspiration from a portrait of Princess Margarita painted by the 17th-century Spanish court painter Diego Velazquez, which was at the time of his visit to the Louvre.
It is a famous song that makes you feel relaxed and peaceful.
