It is a concerted rhapsody with piano as a solo instrument, in a variation form consisting of 25 parts, composed in 1934, of which the 18th Variation is a familiar piece that was also used in film music. Having left his native country during the turmoil of the Russian Revolution, Rachmaninov came to live a life as a pianist in the United States of America without ever returning. While he achieved fame as a pianist in the United States, he was hard to work on composing. In the meantime, the song started composing on June 3, 1934 in a villa he built on the shores of Lake Lucerne in Switzerland for a summer holiday in 1931, and was finished on August 18 of the same year. The song, which is large and romantic, is a perfect song to perform passionately.
* The original song is in D-flat major but arranged in C-major.
* Only alto saxophone, arranged in B-flat major. (The music score for Alto Sachs is in G major)
